The Board, Committees, Staff and Volunteers of Kilmore Quay Community Development Association CLG are saddened to learn of the passing of John Power, Olinda. John devoted his life to the advancement, promotion and development of Kilmore Quay. He was a hard working Committee and original Board member for a long number of years and oversaw the purchase of Ballytiegue Burrow, now a major local amenity, building of the Stella Maris Centre, development of the Memorial Garden, and many other improvements in Kilmore Quay

John was also a gifted historian and writer – recording and collecting Maritime and Heritage memorabilia from the local area and around the coastline which was exhibited in many areas around the country. He had his last Exhibition in the Stella Maris at the end of August last year.  John also wrote a number of books and was a key member Kilmore Parish Journal committee and contributor for 52 years. We were delighted that John and Trish attended the Stella Maris Senior Citizens Christmas Party last December.

We extend our condolences to Trish, David, Caroline, Ciaran, Colm, Mairead, Louise, sister Kitty, the extended Power family and friends.

Your work is done John, sleep well with the Angels.
